Today I made my first Valentines card for the holiday. I’m really pleased how this little cutie turned out.

I have been busy trying to figure out some things with creating my own Backgrounds, Stencil SVG’s and soon SVG’s, its a lot of fun trying to learn new ways to add to your own stash by designing things yourself.
I will be adding a New Stencil and maybe some more backgrounds
for DL in the next few days 🙂

Supplies:

  • 1 x 110gsm White Cardstock – Staples Brand
  • 1 – 6 x 6 Patterned Paper – My Minds Eye, Lost & Found – Ruby
  • Flower and Leaf Dies – By Chloe
  • Lace Edged Die – Gemini
  • Sentiment Strip Die and With Love Stamp – Sarah Davies Signature Collection
  • Pearl Flower Embellishment for inside flowers
  • 1 – 6 x 6 Pearl Cream Cardstock – American Crafts
  • 1 – Green 6 x 6 Green Cardstock – DCWV
  • Pink Ribbon – Joann’s
  • White Opal Liquid Pearls – Ranger
  • Dusty Rose Metallic Liquid Ink – Stampin Up
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Water Spritzer – Ranger
  • Adhesive Runner – Gina K
  • Liquid Glue Pen – Hero Arts
  • Foam Squares

How I Did It:

  1. I basically Spritzed the Cardstock with the metallic ink by putting a couple of drops and rubbing alcohol in a water spritzer, sprayed the Cardstock which I think gave it a marbled sheen effect, and then let it dry, while I put together the flowers and leaves.
  2. I cut the Ruby Paper into 2 triangles and layered them on the card and then inserted the Lace Edged die cut into the top of the V section, under the layered triangles, then glued the outside edges down.
  3. I placed my basic flowers inside the card barely popping out and glued them in, and then layered the other flowers and leaves on top of the mid section using foam squares.
  4. I placed crystal pearls on the corners to tie in with the middle of the flowers.
  5. To finish I placed the sentiment strip and bow in the corner of the card.

Mistakes:

  • The flowers could have been slightly centered better.
  • the crystal pearl drops could have been slightly bigger or I could have used something else.

I actually think this card is a cute one, so I’m pretty happy with it and I hope my friend who I am giving it to for “Valentines Day” will like it to.
Enjoy and Happy Crafting.
